Who wears short shorts? Crystal wears short shorts?!?! I like the sound of that! I am teaming up Curvature Boutique [AGAIN] to bring you this week’s #TripleSlayFashion!  Click to find out my tips on wearing short shorts this summer!!

#SHORTS As I’ve shopped over the years, I’ve come across countless cute shorts that I wanted, I mean I really wanted. I think about all the amazing shorts that never made it into my closet, I’m talking lace shorts, striped shorts, jean shorts, tailored shorts, etc. As soon as I would attempt to buy them, I would have an urgent conversation in my head of why shorts were “not for me”.  In retrospect, there were a lot of societal messaging influencing my decision to not buy the shorts. Because women, like me with 50 inches hips and cellulite on their thighs were regarded as BRAVE because they wore shorts. It’s taken nearly 10 years to realize, that shorts are for EVERY-BODY. And I am NOT BRAVE because I  decided I wanted to wear cute shorts in the summer. This summer I vowing to wear more shorts!! Pst…  You can hold me to it!

As I continue through my personal style and body acceptance journey; I recognize that you may be at different point in your journey. You could be at the 1) I wear shorts everyday! 2) I “want” to wear shorts! 3) Hell no, shorts won’t go! OR somewhere in between those stages.  Here are a couple of tips that helped ME feel comfortable in wearing shorts:

  1. FIT: The fit is very important when wearing shorts. I sized up so my shorts would fit around  thighs. I know a lot of women have an issue with the butt/waist gap, therefore I like to buy shorts that have a drawstring so I can adjust to fit my waist.
  2. HEELS: I know that I gravitate towards heels more, but I like how heels elongate my legs.
  3. SHIRTS: I am not at a point where I can rock shorts with a crop top. I like the comfort of having a shirt cover my butt. The Curvature High-Low Skater Dress/Top is a perfect option given the shortened front to show case the shorts to the elongated tail that adds coverage.
  4. TRY ON: I challenge you to just try on a pair of shorts that catch your eye. You would be suprised how cute you look!

The creative direction behind this look was inspired by summer block parties. I visual music pumping from cars and house, the smell of bbq, and red cups with mixed drinks.
