Red Riding Hood: Thick Thighs & Thigh Highs {Boots}

By |2016-12-30T13:33:18-05:00March 8th, 2016|Style & Fashion|

Let me just warn you ahead of time about my obsession with my #ThighHighBoots. I am so geeked because I now have the opportunity to show them off to you. Here’s why I am so excited, because for the first time in 30 years I’ve found boots that not only fit my 18 inch calf muscles but also my 24 inch thighs. [Pause] Go ahead, just take a quick second to take in the FULL GLORY of my thigh high boots. I never thought this day would come!!!

This week’s #TripleSlayFashion series is all about celebrating thick thighs. For years, I’ve obsessed over the size of my thighs. From the pointless conversations of thigh gap vs no thigh gap to the challenge of finding jeans that fit my waist to hip/thigh ratio. I’ve always struggled to find wide calf/thigh boots in a size 11 shoe. Until Winter 2015, now recognized as a  national holiday for me- “National Thick Thighs Awareness Day” has a nice ring to it, right?!

For my first look, it was vital that I paired my boots with dark jeans and a bold trench coat for the perfect winter look (I still have 13 more days of winter, let me live lol). This is a great time to buy boots as most should be marked down for spring inventory. Clearly my trench is also the highlight of my look. My trench is a vintage Herman Kay hooded wool coat. This trench is everything! I love it because the colors are so bold: burgundy, hunter green, and navy blue.  The rolled up sleeves add an additional level of color dimension. Psst… My trench was only $14 (Yassssss Coins)! I completed the look with a bold yellow Chinese Laundry slouch clutch/cross body purse.

The creative direction behind this look was imaginging how Little Red Riding Hood would dress today in 2016. See Full Details Below.

    Crystal: You are beautiful! What a wonderful site. I am Carolyn’s and your dad’s friend for over 50 years and I remember you as a little girl. I too have struggled with my weight for years and always thought I had to be a size 2-10 to fit in. Your site has given me inspiration that as long as I am healthy is all that is important. I will be a faithful member of your site forever. God Bless You!
