Stand: Jibri High

For my third and final look in the “Jibri High” series, I wanted to create a sophisticated look inspired by the essence of tutus- femininity, poofy, and TWIRL-able. Although, I love the magical look of tutus on women, they do not match my personal style. Find out how you can create a tutu-esque look!

I’ve built my wardrobe off of key staple items of clothing which include: 1) denim/chambray button down shirt, 2)black slacks/black pencil skirt, 3) nude heels, 4)great pair of blue jeans,  5) nude/neutral colored bodycon midi dress (my FAVORITE staple piece).  I do not believe in just wearing an outfit one time. When I buy clothes, I am already thinking of ways I can remix my look, hence the birth of #TripleSlayFashion and Society of Harlow +!

For this “Jibri High” look, I wanted to style my skirt in a modern, sophisticated, and sleek tutu look. I paired my peachy pink and tan houndstooth print Jibri skirt with a classic nude bodycon midi dress with ruched sides. I love how the high waisted skater mini skirt gives an illusion of a tutu on top of the sleek midi dress. This is why I LOVE  bodycon midi dresses so much, because you can style them in multiple ways such as: a tunic look when paired with leggings and flats, a shirt when paired with a skirt or jeans, a casual look when paired with your favorite sneakers, and/or a sexy look when paired with killer heels!

Given that March is Women’s History Month, I wanted to take the time to celebrate my identity as a woman. The creative direction behind this look was inspired by the POWER that women hold. This post aims to celebrate and embody the strength and courage that all women possess across of all shapes, sizes, ethnicities, and ages. As a Spelman College alumna, I understand the collective POWER that we hold when we STAND together.

This post is also dedicated to my Spelman sister and best friend, Nelvia Johnson  of the blog Curable Contemplation who is currently battling Stage 2 breast cancer. And to my mother, Kim Daniels who is the epitome of beauty, strength, and courage. She is also the power behind Society of Harlow+ ‘s photos, without  her there’s no SOH. To every women reading this post, just know that by STANDING together we can CONQUER anything!  THEY CAME… THEY SAW… THEY CONQUERED. #SocietyofHarlow
