I’m so excited to bring you the third and final look in the Thick Thighs and Thigh Highs {Boots} series!  You should know that I LOVE vibrant colors and bold patterns/prints. In the Jeweled and Red Riding Hood posts I brought you COLOR. Now it’s time to mix it up with PATTERNS & PRINTS!  While I personally embrace patterns and the mixing of patterns/prints, I acknowledge that patterns can be intimidating to some.  There’s no need to worry; I’ll provide you some great pattern/print mixing tips that will take the pressure off of you so that you can create the perfect mixed pattern look with PRIDE!

Very similar to the color blocking style trend, one of the first, most important, and simplest guidelines in pattern/print mixing is staying within the same color family. So of course, my pomegranate Eloquii thigh high boots are the anchor in my look. I found this amazing plaid school girl skit in pomegranate, plum, red, cobalt blue, and white. I paired my skirt with a secretary-ish style blouse in plum and white.

I assume you’re asking, so what makes this look work? The mix of patterns and prints work because I built my look off of 3 colors: pomegranate, plum, and white; the pomegranate color of my boots appears in my skirt, the plum in my skirt appears in my blouse. As long as you have one color that appears in each print, this can basically be a foolproof look. I have to admit that even for me, this look is out of my comfort zone, but I love it! If you are not completely ready to take the plunge in mixing patterns/prints and color, I would encourage you to just color block or mix just prints in the same color. You will continue to see me mix colors, patterns, and prints… because I am OBSESSED!

The creative direction behind this look was inspired by my style icon, Mo Handahu a Canadian fashion blogger of Lion Hunter, plus size fashionista, and “Pattern Mixing Gawd”!!!  Check out some of my favorite mixed pattern/print looks from the Lion Hunter herself!
